6 Easy Marketing Ideas for Back-to-School Salon Traffic

For a lot of back-to-school shoppers, the customer journey is starting earlier than usual, with customers taking product recommendations through social media or online research on their mobile phones. Planning ahead and promoting before the salon’s foot traffic increases will ensure that customers feel comfortable and familiar with your prices, deals, and promotions for the back-to-school season.

At The Style Garage, we have Brocato, KEVIN.MURPHY, and Loma liters as well as portable travel sizes and the coveted BEDROOM.HAIR, a new flexible texturizing hairspray by KEVIN.MURPHY. Promote these new products online in July and August, perhaps through a Facebook Ad on your salon’s page, to get new customers and your loyal favorites in the door!

With families on par to spend an average of $673.57 or more on back-to-school shopping, according to the National Retail Federation, brainstorming possible ways to boost salon income during the summer lull and promoting ahead of time will put your salon at the top of customer’s minds when it comes to hitting the stores.

Consider these ideas for your back-to school marketing efforts:
・Partner with a local photographer to give clients a discount on senior/family photos.
・Create a back-to-school “hair supplies” list with new products and haircut specials.
・Ask clients to donate school supplies (that the salon will deliver to local elementary schools) in exchange for discounts on services.
・Offer free day care in the salon.
・Start a raffle for a gift card to a local office supply, department store, or sporting goods shop.
・Consider raising your haircut prices in July (not in a sneaky way)! After all, once the holiday/post-holiday season picks up, a sudden price increase might get the salon accused of price gouging.

We hope you take these newly “supplied” ideas straight to the bank! Shop with The Style Garage for BEDROOM.HAIR by KEVIN.MURPHY, travel sizes, and liters for Brocato, KEVIN.MURPHY, and Loma.
